1. Make sure to feed your breeding candidates a little extra for a couple weeks before you let them actually mate. This will increase their energy and actual desire to mate. However, it’s extremely important that you don’t overfeed! A little extra is good, but overfeeding can actually kill your fish. 2. Beta fish are pretty aggressive when encountering an unfamiliar fish, so make sure you put a clear divider in your tank and separate the 2 fish first. Being able to see each other will allow them to be accustomed to each other first, so that when you finally put them together in the same space, the introduction will go much more smoothly.
